Efforts Put in To Bring Jobs in Memphis; MemphisCrossing Lists 5700-Plus Jobs!
Local companies and the government are helping Memphis considerably towards creating new jobs. Even the Tennessee state is trying to survey employers about bringing in green jobs and thus boost the economy. Meanwhile, MemphisCrossing (www.Memphiscrossing.com), a job-research service catering exclusively to job seekers in Memphis, has massively enhanced its efforts to locate every government job opening.
''MemphisCrossing added more than 1,200 jobs in the last week of June while there are more than 5,700 jobs for Memphis that can be found on the site,'' says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of MemphisCrossing.
The 6,000 surveys which will be distributed to different employers will focus on economic activity in the energy efficiency sector and tasks relevant to renewable energy industries. It will also stress on the job requirement issues. Sharp Electronics Corp, which is celebrating its 2 millionth solar panel at its manufacturing facility in Memphis is elated to play a part in creating jobs with the renewable energy portfolio for the city and aspires to add more.
Meanwhile, Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions is adding quite a number of jobs in its Martinsville facility, VA. The company has been steadily adding jobs and production in its facilities in Virginia, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Indiana, since its takeover of Knauss Snack Foods in 2009.
''The downturn had a domino effect on the job market of Memphis. The jobs are being added at a frantic pace but what poses a difficulty for freshers and even experienced job seekers is where to look for them. There are cluttered job boards everywhere but there are no focused and niche job boards which post jobs according to the needs of the job seekers. MemphisCrossing aspires to be the job board which can aggregate all jobs in Memphis, and till now has met with considerable success.'' adds Barnes.
Luckily, MemphisCrossing has expanded its research horizons to meet the needs of job seekers in Memphis. The website currently lists 5,700-plus jobs in its database belonging to all domains and industries. These jobs have been collected from more than 8,000 job boards and 250,000 employer websites. ''We aim to add more jobs from all possible sources, including all the hidden jobs,'' adds Barnes.
Unlike other job-search and career sites, MemphisCrossing weeds out spam and jobs outside one’s niche, allowing job seekers to search efficiently and specifically for Memphis. MemphisCrossing also allows employers/recruiters to post jobs for free on the site. For more information on MemphisCrossing, please visit www.memphiscrossing.com

Several years ago, I was in the midst of opening up various legal recruiting offices around the United States. In my sheer enthusiasm for the business, I would bring new recruiters from around the country to Los Angeles and have them live with me for several months while training them in my method of recruiting. The new recruiters would sit in my office and I would observe them recruiting and ... |
